Instead they have to stay in debt forever -- hounded by creditors.

    Meanwhile Corporate Bankruptcy remains unchanged.

  3. Fascinating and Pathetic! Massive breaches at Experian and LexisNexis .

"I alerted the three major credit bureaus of the theft and reviewed my credit report to rule out any further damage. I then called every financial institution that I ...have an account with to set up a new, unique verbal password that they will ask me each time I call. Two banks required that I visit one of their local branches to set up the password in person. "

"After taking these initial protections, I then submitted an affidavit to the Federal Trade Commission and visited my local police station to fill out a report. The latter allowed me to put a five-year freeze on my credit report with all three credit bureaus.
I’ll have to jump through some additional hoops the next time I want a new credit card, but the freeze should make it much harder for a thief to open a new line of credit in my name."

And... a bit of history: Originally Obamacare was SINGLE PAYER -- by the time it got hacked to death by Republicans in Committee - it emerged as it is today. The Democrats caved on many issues -- back in the Committee stage -- otherwise it would have failed to pass ( like Hilary's attempt got killed by Republicans back in 2000 ).See More

  3. Livestock is responsible for 18 per cent of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together.
    http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/cow-emissions-more-da...maging-to-planet-than-co2-from-cars-427843.html

The overall environmental impact of livestock is greater than that of burning coal, natural gas, and crude oil combined.

So why is it that 350.org says, “we don’t really take official stances on issues like veganism”? Well why the heck not?! Why would an environmental organization committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions not officially oppose the largest cause of greenhouse gas emissions–the production of meat and meat-based products?

Ignoring veganism in the fight against climate change is sort of like ignoring fast food in the fight against obesity.
    http://freakonomics.com/2011/11/16/agnostic-carnivores-and-global-warming-why-enviros-go-after-coal-and-not-cows/

----- Organizations should advocate vegetarianism as a major part of their global warming campaigns. At a minimum, environmental advocates should mention vegetarianism in any information about actions individuals can take to address global warming.
----- Government policy should encourage vegetarian diets. Possible mechanisms include an environmental tax on meat similar to one already recommended on gasoline, a shift in farm subsidies to encourage plant agriculture over animal agriculture, or an increased emphasis on vegetarian foods in government-run programs like the school lunch program or food stamps.

  5. In place, for more than half a century, Urban Sprawl in the United States is hard to slow, much less reverse, because numerous government policies actively encourage it.

Federal tax policy preferences home-buying, causing the exodus of po...pulation from cities to suburbs. Families put all of their savings into as large a home as possible on which the mortgage interest is deductible. Why live anywhere but in suburbs where a mortgage will buy more tax relief and a home is more affordable? Although it will mean owning several vehicles and driving them more, automobiles and gas are so lightly taxed it scarcely matters.( in Europe they pay double).

Whether urban America's spread-out style of settlement is a national problem requiring a National or State solution -- is a complex and debatable question. To think it through, policymakers will need to envision a lot more than the US’s (and California’s) Smart Growth policy which concentrates on “densifying” housing.

Time to Ask our Politicians to re-examine the data and let market forces and public demand govern the TYPE of housing development and repeal the "Infill" Housing Bills burdening all our cities' general plans. Especially in this unpredicted time of recession.

    1. lack of a double-lane Sir Francis Drake (SFD) to the Richmond Bridge
    2. un-sequenced and un-prioritised traffic lights there
The single lane northbound exit to east SFD will not fix our problem.
BOTH plans need scrapped (Northbound) and funding devoted to 1. and 2. plus a double lane Northbound exit to east SFD!

It will never be a Departure Station. So what's the point of residential development around it?
A...ffordable Housing is needed for people working in Marin and currently living outside it.
Building Affordable Housing near Marin stations is only going to increase commuters to out-of-county work places. Not something we need!

The only thing "Transit" about this "Neighborhood" is ARRIVALS.
(See how many there will be from SMART Rail here: http://marininfo.org/SMART/Land_Use/SMART_LAND_USE_Chapt_5.html )

Notice how this article is devoid of the word "AFFORDABLE". The real need is to provide affordable housing to those who congest the freeway by commuting from out-of-county. This is not "balance" it is adding to the weight on traffic congestion!

  3. What’s interesting about Hank’s situation in particular is how ignorant he is about his own insurance policy: “$177,000,” he says. “What the Hell’s he talking about? Why were they paying for my medical bills? What about my insurance?”

Hank...’s ignorance is likely an accurate reflection of many Americans’ inability to comprehend just how crappy our system was. Most people wrongly assume that if they have coverage, they are golden. But they did’t realize that even with that precious, must-be-protected-at-all-costs, employer-paid health care, they could still go bankrupt thanks to the magic phrase “out-of-pocket expenses.” Indeed, medical care is the biggest cause of bankruptcies in the U.S.

“Despite having year-round insurance coverage, 10 million insured Americans ages 19-64 will face bills they are unable to pay.”

Breaking Bad couldn’t be set in any other country!

I've see it before too many times - a company pays a bunch of high-tech consultants to implement a system - when its all ov...er the consultants are gone with all the expertise they not only had prior to implementation but what they learned during -- and the employees are left trying to figure out what they didn't learn by not being involved.

Let me repeat here yet again what I have said before -- there must be dozens of counties in this country with sophisticated enough systems that can be utilized off-the-shelf in Marin. It is both ignorant and arrogant to think otherwise.

And if you don't believe it then find the link: "Suburban sprawl to power cities of the future" - Jul 31, 2013 University of Auckland --- on the webpage.

A g...reat opportunity for the Marin Community Foundation to turn the Grady Ranch into a 21st Century MODEL for RENEWABLE ENERGY and RECYCLING - - a truly Sustainable Development:
    1. Build and rent affordable single family MANUFACTURED housing.
    2. Every house to have solar panels and a wind turbine on the roof.
    3. Provide the necessary electrical outlet for charging the electric car.
    4. Lease an electric car to every owner and make that a requirement of stay.
    5. Every resident MUST work in Marin. Should that change then they have 6 months to live elsewhere.
    6. Invest in the most promising of the many (already demonstrated) ways of storing solar/wind energy for charging the electric car overnight.
    7. Actively capture rain water and store it.
    8. Recycle grey water locally, per residence, for irrigation.
    9. Build, for all surrounding residences, a Sewage Water TOTAL Purification Plant ( see webpage)
    10. Locally recycle compost-able waste for local garden use and contribute to CARBON SEQUESTRATION.

For ways on how all of this can be done today: http://populationalert.org/GlobalWarming/wind_solar.htm

As the technology improves and becomes more cost effective this kind of development will eventually be everywhere.

  2. I agree with Schonbrunn that Regional Planning would be better when, for instance, development in Sonoma directly affects Marin traffic. But that Planning has to be right!

Unfortunately the State's Planning is PATHETICALLY WRONG for a Sust...ainable Future.
And Schonbrunn's obsession with RAIL is equally pathetically wrong!

The Bay Area and even Los Angeles is not New York City or Chicago.
People live in suburbs and want to. Its a done deal in California.
(See California Declares War on Suburbia http://populationalert.org/GlobalWarming/CAs_War_on_Suburbia.htm ). Schonbrunn has never attempted to rebut any of these arguments against his failed philosophy.

Schonbrunn wants us to spend Billions of $'s on Transit to increase its share of travel to a measly 4% from its current tiny 2%. And deprive us of freeway lanes that can facilitate EXPRESS BUS and RAPID BUS that would be far more able to reduce our TRAFFIC CONGESTION. (especially when all traffic will, soon enough, be non-polluting ELECTRIC POWERED.)

  3. Can Kinsey explain how ANY of the PLAN's money can go towards "allowing existing single family neighborhoods to see ... remodels and second units .... " ? This is one of the major flaws in the PLAN that denies PLAN funds to this kind of af...fordable housing development outside of PDAs!

I have to say I was embarrassed for Kinsey at the debate when he had NO rebuttal to ANY of the EXPERT's accusations:

---- Planners want to herd millions into densely packed urban corridors. It won't save the planet and will make traffic even worse.
---- Transit would increase its share of travel to a measly 4% from its current tiny 2%.
---- Unaffordable housing could become even more unaffordable.
---- Additional households in the future will continue to use their cars for most trips.
---- It is better to raise children with backyards than on condominium balconies.
---- "Between 1985 and 2010, transit service levels were increased 46 percent in the Bay Area. However, ridership declined "
---- "Plan should be withdrawn, since the No Project Alternative (essentially "doing nothing") achieves the required greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction objectives."
---- "does not consider strategies that would materially improve mobility for low income households."
---- "does not apply cost effectiveness"
----"would result in only two percent less driving volume than in the No Project Alternative. Travel by passenger vehicles would increase 18 percent"
    ---- "inhibits economic growth ".

Kinsey made NO attempt at answering ANY of these major flaws in the PLAN. His feeble response boils down to "The road to hell is paved with good intentions".

  4. Let's empower our children by encouraging them to hold themselves responsible for everything that happens to them (with few exceptions), instead of:
    - using religion as a crutch
    - praying, in the belief that a god will obviate their need to... control their own life
    - believing that he has their life path preordained.
If we don't understand that good happens because we make it happen (not because we pray for it) then good will not happen nearly as often.

  6. For the $57 billion to be spent on Plan Bay Area - you can cover half of the 2.5 million homes in the Bay with solar panels and give free electric cars to half as well ! ( $20,000 each home).
Or means-test-subsidise every home from 25% to ...85% discount for each home to have both an electric car AND 2.5kw of solar panels -- Reducing Green House gas Emission to one hundredth of the Plan and preparing us for a REALISTIC future. This is the GOBBLEDEGOOK from Alex Steffen:
" streets that a person walking along has the experience of being in their own realm, that the street is meant for them. So there may be cars, there may be bicycles, there may be streetcars, but the feeling is that you are walking along a street where you are meant to be."
"Deep walkability describes a city that is built in such a way that you can move from one area to another on foot, on bicycle, on transit and have an experience that remains a pleasant one, that you feel you are welcome not just in the neighborhood but moving between neighborhoods."

But even if transit expenditure and associated TRANSIT ORIENTATED DEVELOPMENT (TOD) around it was the most proven cost effective spending possible ( which of course it isn't) but even if it was the most justifiable of all government spending - ...I would still be totally against a government Bill that denied the vote of the taxpayer for or against it. 9. As you may all know There are two major kinds of stroke.
The first, called an ischemic stroke, is caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel or artery in the brain. About 80 percent of all strokes are ischemic. The second, k...nown as a hemorrhagic stroke, is caused by a blood vessel in the brain that breaks and bleeds into the brain. About 20 percent of strokes are hemorrhagic.
I wonder what proportion of the "blood clot'" variety would fall into this category -- where its deemed dangerous to administer blood thinner ( TPA) ? It appears to be only if not treated within 4 hours.

BUT ALTOGETHER THEY WEIGH ABOUT AS MUCH AS THE HUMAN BRAIN." The creature we admire in the mirror every morning is thus about 10 percent human by cell count.
While our 21,000 or so human genes help make us who we are, our resident microbes possess another eight million or so genes, many of which collaborate behind the scenes handling food, tinkering with the immune system, turning human genes on and off, and otherwise helping us function.

Now that 80% of the antibiotics used to today are on animals, and so much disease is anti-biotic resistant.
And the average 18 year-old in developed countries has had 10 to 20 courses of antibiotics!
It's time to find the good microbes from the bad -PROBIOTICS.

  9. Every home will have Solar Panels and a Wind Turbine on its roof.
Battery ENERGY DENSITY will be 10 times more than it is today. Thus every single family home will be generating more electricity than consumed.

Charging the electric car ev...ery night.
    Home insulation will become irrelevant.

Solar panels and wind turbines on the roof of an multi-family apartment building can never be enough to meet the needs of the multi-families below and will not be ENERGY COST EFFICIENT.
But Single-family houses will be net ENERGY PRODUCERS -- when multi-family cannot.

Increasing per-capita emission of greenhouse gases ( mandated by CA Senate Bill 375) not decreasing it, relatively.

  9. In the case of TRANSPORTATION - where residential development in Sonoma, exceeds jobs available, and directly affects Marin traffic congestion, for example. So housing development in Sonoma needs to include affects on Marin Traffic and thus..., housing development should be planned regionally.
BUT It appears that the premise of this dense development not affecting freeway traffic ( as it is located around transit stations) is deeply flawed.
Few will use that transit. Most US metropolitan areas will always be so dispersed that most trips require a car. Building High Density will never be desired by the majority nor reduce the demand for automobile travel enough.
Then there is the not so distant future where high density buildings will make Global Warming WORSE not better. http://populationalert.org/GlobalWarming/wind_solar.htm

This is quite possibly the best video I have ever seen in my entire life! LOL It is SPOT ON!!! I have watched it about 500 times I am sure and it always puts a smile on my face and a laugh in my day! This depicts perfectly the demands th...at we must meet as parents! I have to tell you that it is one of the reasons that I am sooooooo blessed to have found the business that I found! Where I CAN BE at home to be mom and go through all the stuff, good & bad! I don't have to go slaving away at some job and then spend all the money I make at that job to pay to keep my kids in daycare...negating the purpose completely! LOL It is amazing what people put themselves through unnecessarily! Instead, I get to work from home like 3 hours a day and not only make money, but make a LOT of it! :) If you are *down* with the parent rap and ready to change your life like I changed mine, join my team today! www.en-teamnosleep.com :)See More

  12. 1996 Australia enacted sweeping gun-control measures. A decade and a half hence, the results of these policy changes are clear: They worked really, really well.

At the heart of the push was a massive buyback of more than 600,000 semi-autom...atic shotguns and rifles, or about one-fifth of all firearms in circulation in Australia.

    New gun laws:
    • prohibited private sales of guns ,
    • required that all weapons be individually registered to their owners, and
    • required that gun buyers present a “genuine reason” for needing each weapon at the time of the purchase. (Self-defense did not count.)
    • Homicides by firearm plunged 59 percent between 1995 and 2006, with no corresponding increase in non-firearm-related homicides.
    • The drop in suicides by gun was even steeper: 65 percent.
    • Robberies involving a firearm also dropped significantly.
    • Meanwhile, home invasions did not increase, contrary to fears that firearm ownership is needed to deter such crimes.
    • But here’s the most stunning statistic. In the decade before the Port Arthur massacre, there had been 11 mass shootings in the country. There hasn’t been a single one in Australia since.
    • the rate of decrease in gun-related deaths more than doubled following the gun buyback, and
    • states with the highest buyback rates showed the steepest declines.

Polls showed public support for these measures at upwards of 90 percent. Studies found a close correlation between the sharp declines and the gun buybacks. A 2011 Harvard summary of the research concluded that, “it would have been difficult to imagine more compelling future evidence of a beneficial effect.”

The Australian leader is convinced that America needs to change its gun laws, but lamented its lack of will to do so:
“………. So deeply embedded is the gun culture of the US, that millions of law-abiding, Americans truly believe that it is safer to own a gun, based on the chilling logic that because there are so many guns in circulation, one's own weapon is needed for self-protection. ……………”.

After Sandy Hook, with the nation shocked and groping for answers once again, I wonder if Americans are still so sure that we have nothing to learn from Australia’s example. The situation in Australia also looked like it was so far gone there was no turning back, but they did.

    1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

"This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that t...heir life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it."

    2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard.

"This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children's youth and their partner's companionship. Women also spoke of this regret, but as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence."

    3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.

"Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result."

    4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

"Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying."

    5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

"This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called 'comfort' of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content, when deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again."

(http://www.energy.eu/ 1.59 euros per litre -- 3.79 litres/gal and 1 euro = 1.3032 US dollars). If we paid the same -- the increase being a tax --- we could eliminate our $11 trillion debt and lead in solving Global Warming, (by using it on RENEWABLE ENERGY SUBSIDIES), -- in a handful of years.

  6. http://populationalert.org/GlobalWarming/wind_solar.htm

    RESIDENTIAL ENERGY
Every home will have 2-3kw Solar Panels and a 2-3kw Wind Turbine on its roof. Battery charge per weight/volume/cost will be 10 times more than it is today. ( A Berk...eley company is manufacturing these batteries right now). Thus every single family home will be generating more electricity than consumed.

Charging the electric car every night.
( Using this excess electricity to manufacture these Solar Panels, Wind Turbines and Batteries).

Thus home insulation will become irrelevant.
Solar panels and wind turbines on the roof of an apartment building can never be enough to meet the needs of the multi-families below. Thus Multi-Story apartment buildings will not be ENERGY COST EFFICIENT. And Single-family houses will therefore be more ENERGY COST EFFICIENT than multi-family.
    WASTE RECYCLING
Water will be stored and re-processed for reuse and (not so greywater) irrigation.
Solid human waste and previously un-processable waste will be locally processed and put back into the ground (remember - with excess energy all things are possible) . No longer wasting so much water to flush it to sewage treatment. ( 1. more research needed). Composting's methane emission - not necessarily being a better option.

This is yet another reason why the single-family detached home, with a garden, is the way of the future for CARBON SEQUESTRATION and WATER STORAGE as well as ENERGY EFFICIENCY.

Garden and roof enables drinkable rain Water Capture.

(2-way Satellite Internet will then allow homes to be totally OFF THE GRID and can be built anywhere.)
    BUSINESS OF THE FUTURE
Retail outlets like Best Buy (which is going bust right now) and even clothing and general goods retailers could become showrooms instead - charging admission with online purchase credits. Purchases made in these showrooms could be delivered to your door on a subsequent day. Most businesses will be online except for food, restaurants, entertainment and a few others. Deliveries being made in electric trucks.
Food retailers like COSTCO , which sell in bulk, could make similar use of online and showroom retailing. Different businesses will share showrooms and strategically placed warehouses to increase delivery efficiency.

Commuting will be to the above jobs in businesses that do not sell much online and to manufacturing.
Telecommuting will be the norm. More people telecommuting - will, as a result, be at home to receive all these deliveries which otherwise will be made to their place of work.
PLAN for an ENERGY EFFICIENT FUTURE NOW
Make land available for MANUFACTURED (cheap) detached housing otherwise building so much multi-family now, will create energy slums - a liability that no one will want, -- as living with your own energy producing roof and conserving garden will be, -- not only be cheaper, -- but a source of income. And also be "SAVE THE PLANET NECESSARY".
Keep and add to the RENEWABLE ENERGY and SOLAR SUBSIDIES.
Recompense for residential excess energy production so we can have finance companies invest in energy installations on residential roof tops - now.

This is a simplified argument and it is disappointing to see that the five dot points at the end of the executive summary don't include anything on population.

Any product that rich people will pay more for, than poor people will pay for grain, will cause land to be lost for grain and the price of food for poor people to go up. It isn't just biofuels. Coffee, wine grapes, cocoa for chocolate, g...rain that feeds livestock, grain for beer and spirits, olives, almonds, cashews, strawberries, cherrys, avocados, etc. All "specialist" foods that we don't think of as special.

That is why I am frustrated that the UN (and Ian Lowes book) say "food is not problem." If you are talking about gruel, then food is no problem. If you are talking about eating the way Australians eat there is no way that all 7 billion could eat the way we eat. Food (if you are talking about an Australian diet) is a big big problem. When we say food is not a problem we are saying that we are happy to have poor people eat gruel. I don't think that is a good position for the UN or any of us to be taking.

    - Eric Claus

This was worth reposting and is in response to an article on how biofuels are competing with food.-Alan Ditmore

See here how Clapper Rail have NOT habituated to McInnes roadway disturbance. http://www.marininfo.org/Airport_clapper_rail.htm The proposed access road to the Sports Complex would be equally proximate and create the same Clapper Rail DIST...URBANCE along to whole length of the creek. ----- The yellow line alongside the runway needs to be a 10 foot fence where soccer balls would be stopped. This is in Airport Zone 5. This was never disclosed to Caltrans who would have denied approval on a height violation (if it were a public airport).See More

  2. We used to play indoor soccer in a converted warehouse. For a fraction of the cost of the proposed Complex. Put down flooring, protect glass and install portable walls. Voila an indoor soccer court! The real need in the county is for OUTDOO...R soccer. This proposal has ONE SOCCER field! If the building wasn't there -- perhaps there could be 3 soccer fields. Since 6 years ago when all this started there has been a drastic change of retail and commerecial occupancy. A Yardbirds and RiteAid lays empty, either of which could house indoor soccer! For a fraction of the cost of this proposed monsterous Complex. There are other locations. -------- If only this proposal was about soccer. Its about 2 big businesses trying to make money out of soccer. The soccer kids, at last nights meeting, could have easily, instead, have been playing indoor soccer -- if the soccer organisations in the county got themselves organised and stopped relying on business entites to provide for them. ---- instead of developing in such a sensitive area -- build a little footbridge connecting the McInnes soccer fields to 3 on the airport! http://www.marininfo.org/Airport_Sports_Complex.htm See More

Although oceans of water co...ver about 70 percent of Earth's surface, these oceans are shallow compared to the Earth's radius. The above illustration shows what would happen is all of the water on or near the surface of the Earth were bunched up into a ball. The radius of this ball would be only about 700 kilometers, less than half the radius of the Earth's Moon, but slightly larger than Saturn's moon Rhea which, like many moons in our outer Solar System, is mostly water ice. How even this much water came to be on the Earth and whether any significant amount is trapped far beneath Earth's surface remain topics of research.Astronomy Picture of the DaySee More

  8. I wondered when they'd get round to screwing with the DNS.
There is nothing mentioned under "Remediation Efforts".
    Examples of what they did:

    Click Hijacking:
    • When the user of an infected computer clicked on the domain name link for th...e official website of Apple-iTunes, the user was instead taken to a website for a business unaffiliated with Apple Inc. that purported to sell Apple software.
    • When the user of an infected computer clicked on a domain name link for Netflix, the user was instead taken to a website for an unrelated business called “BudgetMatch.”
    • When the user of an infected computer clicked on the domain name link for the official government website of the Internal Revenue Service, the user was instead taken to the website for H&R Block, a major tax preparation business.

    Advertising Replacement Fraud:
    • When the user of an infected computer visited the home page of the Wall Street Journal, a featured advertisement for the American Express “Plum Card” had been fraudulently replaced with an ad for “Fashion Girl LA.”
    • When the user of an infected computer visited the Amazon.com website, a prominent advertisement for Windows Internet Explorer 8 had been fraudulently replaced with an ad for an email marketing business.
    • When the user of an infected computer visited the ESPN website, a prominent advertisement for “Dr. Pepper Ten” had been fraudulently replaced with an ad for a timeshare business.

A gawd said to them - go ahead and do IT then -- and they did -- and Adam and Eve sure enjoyed it. And afterwards Adam... was alone and gawd spaketh to Adam. "How do you liketh sex then Adam" ? And Adam replied "awsum". And gawd asked "Where is Eve"? "She went for a swim in the ocean" said Adam. And the dark clouds gathered and the thunder roared and gawd cried "Oh No! Hope you are well.

      Thank you for the add:)
      ...
I'm Co-Founder/moderator on the newly founded FB page, "Truth Beckons". Please feel free to peruse & join. There is a veritable treasure-trove of information to be found!

The Page is only 40 days old...and already people are migrating. Encouraging sign:) Our Administrators used to be the main Team - (did the research, posting, 'brain-storming') - on 'Exposing the Truth', which presently has 107,000+ Members. For what it is worth - as knowledge is as nothing compared to compassion and kindness - our Admin have considerable experience and credentials; a former journalist of 20 years, ex-Barrister/Solicitor and a Professor. This lends itself, hopefully(!) to high-calibre posts in our role as ‘truth-sleuth’ purveyors

We are also kind(!!) and ‘try’ to promote Peace, Harmony and Compassion for All Living Beings. And I can assure you it can be…’trying’ As you appreciate, Peace-on-Earth has not broken out, and we stand at a rather critical juncture in history. We live in…interesting times.

As briefly alluded to, our goal is to provide a fresh, more indepth, and balanced approach on wider-ranging issues, drawing on credible media/information sources. A multitude of perspectives on issues ranging from - up-to-date news, political analysis/discussion, state-of-the-art developments across every spectrum - to mind, body and spirit, are covered.

Your input would be most welcome! We *genuinely* enjoy hearing Members' viewpoints - the more participation the better. Please feel free to post as much material as you wish. Wide circulation is guaranteed(!) as our posts currently attract 1 million viewers.

Look forward to meeting you, should you decide to join

      Take care.

      Best wishes,

    10. Judaism and the Roman empire shaped Jesus' life. He was probably relatively "upper-class". Nazareth, where he grew up, was about four miles from the cosmopolitan center of Sepphoris, one of the Roman provincial cities.

While Rome defined o...ne dimension of Jesus' world, the other was symbolized by the great Temple in Jerusalem. Jesus was born, lived, and died a Jew, and he was influenced by the diversity and tensions of Judaism at that time.

Jesus was most likely arrested and executed by Roman authorities whose principal concern was to keep peace in the empire. Rome had little tolerance for those it judged disruptive, crucifixion being common.

The death of Jesus was a Roman act; there was little if any notice taken by Jewish people.

After the crucifixion -- the Jesus Movement begins as a sect within Judaism. The early Christians branched out and spread their message to non-Jews or gentiles (meaning "nations").

The Apostle Paul had a profound impact on this spread; around 50 C.E., Paul travelled away from the traditional centers of the Jesus Movement and began to found new churches in Greco-Roman cities. Most major roman cities of the region had jewish settlements.
Paul's letters to these fledgling congregations mark the first writings of the New Testament.

Meanwhile, expectations about the coming of the Kingdom of God, conflicts between Paul and James( Jesus' brother running the Jerusalem HQ) and spiraling tensions between Jews and Rome would culminate in a catastrophic Jewish revolt against Rome from 66-70 C.E., ending in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple--the center of Jewish spiritual life. The traumatic failure of this revolt would dramatically affect the future for Jews and Christians.

The first attempts to write the life of Jesus -- the Gospels -- were products of social and religious reconstruction in the period after the war, ranging from roughly 70 to after 100 C.E. These stories were passed down before they were written. Each Gospel does not tell the same story of Jesus because each one is responding to a different audience and circumstances. For example, Matthew's gospel is clearly written for a Jewish Christian audience; it is the most Jewish of all the gospels.

During this time, a growing tension appeared between the emergent Christian groups and their Jewish neighbors that shaped both religions forever. And there was a second, devastating Jewish war, the Bar Kochbah revolt, which erupted in 132 C.E.

In the period between 100 and 300 C.E., the Christian movement grew throughout the Roman empire. At times there were heated debates about beliefs, worship, and even about Jesus himself. The Christian movement also faced external threats; it became suspicious in the eyes of the Roman authorities and Christians were persecuted.

What started as a small sect of Judaism became a significant part of the population, enough so that the new Roman emperor Constantine decided that Christianity should be part of the official religion of Rome.

As the fourth century dawned, the cross was transformed into a symbol of triumph and Jesus of Nazareth became Jesus Christ. In only three hundred years, the empire that had sent Jesus to his death embraced Christianity as an official religion and worshipped him as divine.

    12. Rather than risk killing yourself with cough CPR, those experiencing a heart attack should heed the advice of physicians the world over; down a couple of Aspirin as an emergency remedy. Doctors believe that during the early stages of a hear...t attack, Aspirin: which is known to prevent blood platelets from sticking together, can prevent a clot from getting bigger. In 1991 Dr. Michael Vance, president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, recommended that people who think they are having a heart attack should "Call 911, then take an Aspirin."

Oh, and it probably makes a great deal of sense to chew the Aspirin before swallowing. The sooner it is dispersed by the stomach, the sooner it gets to where it is needed. During a heart attack, waiting for the enteric coating surrounding the pill to break down naturally could be a mistake.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Let's say it's 6.15pm and you're going home (alone of course),
after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your ...chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself..!!

NOW HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE..

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.
A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating.
The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

    1. There HAS to be a complete system out there to be purchased OFF THE SHELF to do EVERYTHING that the county needs. Whatever the county needs of a system -- has been met by dozens, if not hundreds of other implementations elsewhere . If the c...ounty thinks it needs any customisation it would be because its current system is probably flawed and needs to be changed to do what the tried and proven system of the hundreds of other installations do. This "ignorant arrogance" of the user requirements is one of the most common roads to failure aided and abetted by the provider, salivating on the thought of customisation fees.

Its funny ( if not related) that Autodesk suffered the same "infestation" of SAP "skilled" employees. It started at the top where the Director of IT was hired because he was a friend of someone, he in turn hired friends instead of skills. They in turn did the same . Only a few consultants were any good . Most of the employees were incompetent. The SAP department was eventually in such a mess that they fired them all and outsourced the whole SAP IT to an East Coast Co. (Wonder how many of them got hired by the County/Deloitte?)

A sign for all small stores:
"Dear Customers: We pay about 2 percent of our total revenue in fees so that we can accept your credit and debit cards. This is far more than Starbucks pays, since it is big and we are not.... We appreciate your support of local businesses like ours that offer better coffee at lower prices, but these card fees are only going up. If you stop using cards here and pay cash instead, it will reduce the need for us to raise prices going forward. Thanks for considering this."See More
